Comment:
This is more of a philosophy artistic kinda movie, base on a historical base (which is not accurate) but I applaud this for it’s artistic value.
It show the struggle of Captain Benjamin L. Willard (by Martin Sheen), he has adjusted his life to the battle field, after he gone back from the Vietnam war, he became restless, he got a divorce with his wife and when live alone in a motel until he got his next assignment.
He have to judge, this is no longer about right or wrong, everything is settle at grey, everything grey is that is hard to judge, everything that have life seems worthless.
This is one of the quote I love where General Kurtz speak to Willard (after Willard is under Kurtz’s custody.

“I've seen horrors... horrors that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a murderer. You have a right to kill me. You have a right to do that... but you have no right to judge me. It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies.”

It is a tiring movie to watch, a lot to absorb, a lot to judge, a lot that is going on, it is tiring in a good way, it contribute to another way of looking at life, it philosophic value that keep us thinking.
